Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated Junior Associate / Associate – Alternative Legal Services with 1-2 / 3-4 years of relevant experience to join our team at GEO Lawyers. In this role, you will play a critical part in supporting our Alternative Legal Services Team. The candidate will work extensively on a contract management tool, and handle data protection related matters. A good understanding of the law governing contract formation and performance, the contract engagement lifecycle, and the data protection principles is mandatory. Excellent contract drafting and negotiations skills in both French and English are essential for success in this role. Additionally, the position includes regular reporting, and feedback to clients using a project management tool.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct contractual reviews (redlining) of agreements using a tailor-made contract management tool, ensuring accuracy and compliance with French contract law and clients’ requirements.
  • Collaborate effectively with the client’s legal and business teams to address contract and data protection related queries.
  • Assist in generating regular reports for the client, maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Support senior attorneys with legal research, document preparation, and case management as needed.
  • Stay updated on changes in French law and industry regulations relevant to contractual agreements.
  • Maintain meticulous records and documentation of contract reviews and administrative tasks.
  • Foster strong communication and working relationships with clients and colleagues.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in law or M2 from French Universities.
  • 1-2 years / 3 – 4 years of relevant experience in contractual reviews, and data protection compliance program. University graduates with a strong academic background in law, particularly those with coursework or studies in French law, may be considered.
  • An understanding of legal outsourcing will be an advantage.
  • Proficiency in French and English, both written and oral, is crucial.
  • Excellent understanding of contract and data protection laws, or relevant coursework/studies conducted in French.
  • Detailed oriented, analytical, and organized.
  • Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Good cross-cultural communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Additional Information:

  • Reporting: The Junior Associate /Associate will report to the Head of the Alternative Legal Services.
  • Work Hours: The candidate will be expected to work full CET (Central European Time) hours during the end of each quarter.
  • Compensation: The package offered will be commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the candidate.
